Muskegon – United States Military Academy alum, leadership, and martial arts expert Jessica Owens will visit the Muskegon Maritime Academy on March 20, 2023, to conduct training sessions for students and staff.

Jessica Owens a native of Clinton, MS. She graduated valedictorian from Bailey Magnet High School in Jackson, MS, and was accepted into the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS). She attended USMAPS for one year and was accepted into the United States Military Academy at West Point class of 2013. Upon graduation from West Point with a Bachelor of Science in Chinese (Mandarin), Jessica entered the United States Army as a Commissioned Officer in the Military Police Corps.

Over the years, Jessica has received many community, educational, and professional awards for her ability to lead, inspire and motivate those she encounters.

She is WKC World Champion 2009, 8-time AAU Karate National Champion (kata, kumite, and kobudo), USA National Team Member, and USA-NKF National Champion, to name a few. Jessica served as a karate instructor for HIS Heart of Jackson, MS, and Upward Bounds at Tougaloo College.
