Renowned surgeon, former HUD secretary to speak at Muskegon County Right to Life banquet

Muskegon – Renowned neurosurgeon, author, and former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Ben Carson, whose remarkable life story has inspired millions, will be the keynote speaker at the Muskegon County Right to Life annual banquet on Tuesday, October 27, at the Fricano Place Event Center,  located at 1050 W Western Ave.

For nearly 30 years, Dr. Carson served as Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, becoming the youngest major division director in the hospital’s history at age 33. He gained international recognition for his pioneering work in pediatric neurosurgery, including leading the 1987 surgical team that successfully separated twins conjoined at the back of the head.

In 2017, Dr. Carson was sworn in as the 17th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, serving until 2021. He is the recipient of numerous honors, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, America’s highest civilian honor. He and his wife, Candy, also founded the Carson Scholars Fund, which promotes academic achievement and humanitarian service among young people.

Muskegon County Right to Life is an affiliate of Right to Life of Michigan.  The organization is committed to the cause of proclaiming the value of every human life, born and pre-born.
