The college basketball season is just over a month away so it feels like the perfect time to start looking ahead to the NCAA Tournament. 801 agrees.

One of the top bracketologists out there has released a preseason projection for the 2027 NCAA Tournament, with the Spartans landing as one of the top seeds. In 801 Bracketology’s updated preseason projection, Michigan State came in as a No. 2 seed. The Spartans were joined by Gonzaga, Houston and UConn on the two seed line in the projection.

Michigan State comes into this season looking to get over the hump from the last two years and reach their first Final Four since 2019. The Spartans are projected to be a contender in the Big Ten and will enter the season ranked in the preseason top 10.

Michigan State will play their first exhibition game of the season on Friday against Incarnate Word. The first regular season game of the season will come on November 6 against Quinnipiac.
