Televangelist Jim Bakker, known for founding the Praise the Lord Club alongside then-wife Tammy Faye Bakker before becoming shrouded in scandal, died on Monday at age 86, according to social media posts from his family.

Lori Bakker, wife of Jim Bakker, announced that her husband “went home to be with the Lord this evening.” In the post —  which was shared on “The Jim Bakker Show” Facebook page and on the PTL website,  Mrs. Bakker said her husband “finished his race with faith.”

Jim Bakker’s son, Jay Bakker, also confirmed Jim Bakker’s passing with a post on social media.

Jim Bakker was born in Muskegon and attended Muskegon High School.
