Michigan TE Zack Marshall apologizes for leaked messages about offense

After the Michigan football loss to Minnesota, there was a screenshot of a group chat supposedly featuring a Wolverines tight end bemoaning the state of the team and the state of the offense in Ann Arbor. According to the group chat, said player noted that the coaches didn’t believe that the tight ends were valuable to Jason Beck’s offense.

While the veracity hadn’t been determined, Michigan tight end Zack Marshall is apologizing for the message, giving strong credence that it’s real.

Marshall posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, apologizing for the leaked direct messages that were a part of the group chat.

Last weekend, in the hours after we lost, I made some inappropriate comments that I regret. This game is won and lost as a team, and I pointed fingers instead of taking accountability. I let my frustrations speak for me in an emotional moment. I apologize to my teammates and coaches for the unnecessary drama that this has caused. I will always be proud to represent Michigan and will continue to give everything I have for this program. I love Ann Arbor and the Univeristy (sic) of Michigan and Team 147.

Marshall has yet to register a catch this season through five games after having had 16 catches for 199 yards and a touchdown last year. The tight ends as a whole have nine catches for 65 yards. The passing offense is currently ranked 111th in the country and is the lowest-ranked passing offense in the Big Ten, averaging 180.8 yards per game.
