Muskegon – The USS Silversides Submarine Museum is set to host their Legends & Legacies Gala on
October 15. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is set to honor supporters,
veterans, leaders, and friends of the museum whose efforts have made a difference in the lives
of community members and citizens alike.

Recognition will be a key theme of the evening, with various awards being presented to those
who have made major contributions to the betterment of the museum community as a whole.
In an official statement released by the organization, they noted their excitement to recognize
these individuals

“Together, we’ll honor this year’s award recipients, reflect on the stories that shaped our past,
and invest in preserving history for future generations.”

The USS Silversides Museum also noted that potential attendees have the opportunity to both
honor the past work the organization has done as well as help them prepare for the future,
especially as it regards service members.

“Most importantly, your attendance supports the museum’s mission to preserve maritime and
military history, expand educational opportunities, care for historic collections, and inspire future
generations through the stories of those who served.”

The event itself will feature numerous activities and experiences with the dual purpose of
entertaining guests and paying homage to the past. This includes a cocktail reception as well as
a gourmet dinner catered by Hearthstone Bistro. In addition, there will also be both silent and
live auctions as well as raffles and a chance to engage in fellowship with community leaders,
veterans and museum supporters alike.

For those interested, there are sponsorship opportunities which include special perks such as
preferred seating and special recognition during the program itself. The raffle also includes a
grand prize of $10,000.

All proceeds from the event go towards the preservation of the museum.
